The Retiro Park is the most popular park in Madrid. It can get crowded during weekends when many Madrilenian families go for a stroll in the park and street musicians, sidewalk painters, fortune tellers, jugglers and street performers animate the crowd.
Close to the northern entrance of the Parque del Retiro is a large artificial lake, the Estanque del Retiro. Here you can rent a rowing boat, especially popular during weekends.
Next Event : February 26, 2011. Madrid's Retiro Park will host the “Festival of Forgiveness” during World Youth Day 2011. Hundreds of priests will be located in the park for young people to confess throughout the day. The event is organized to help bring this sacrament to those attending the event. The priests will be available to listen to confessions in all major languages. All the churches in Madrid will also be open for anyone who wants to make a confession.
