The "Champ de Mars" - Paris (France)

The Champ de Mars is a large public greenspace located in
the seventharrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower to
the northwest and the École Militaire to the southeast. The
name also alludes to the fact that the lawns here were
formerly used as drilling and marching grounds by the French
military. Many birds may be seen in the area and it is one of
the rare places in Paris where the song of the tawny owl is
heard at night.Traditionally, when the World's Fair is held in
Paris, it is located on the Champ de Mars, taking advantage
of the large open space and fame of the site. From the
ground, the Champ de Mars is a very pleasant place to walk,
picnic, and simply lounge, and many French people take
advantage of this.
